Nile Point is a San Francisco-based consulting firm working at the intersection of agriculture, technology and market development. We help agricultural technology and climate companies understand markets, validate opportunities, build partnerships and develop practical strategies for commercial growth.

Our experience spans California agriculture and emerging markets across Africa and beyond. We combine hands-on experience with growers and technology companies with decades of work in agricultural market development, private-sector partnerships, investment and strategic funding.

Our Story

Nile Point grew out of work at the intersection of agriculture, international development and technology. In 2010, founder Emmet Murphy was managing a large USAID food security program in Haiti when the devastating earthquake struck. The response highlighted both the importance of strong local systems and the potential for technology to help field teams operate more effectively in difficult environments.

That experience eventually helped inspire the creation of Nile Point in 2013. The firm initially combined international development expertise with digital tools for agriculture and field operations, working with organizations including CARE and Food for the Hungry.

Since then, Nile Point’s work has evolved with the agricultural sector. Today, we bring that same practical, field-oriented approach to agricultural technology commercialization, market development and investment—helping companies and partners move promising ideas from strategy into real-world application in California and emerging markets.

Emmet Murphy

Founder & Principal

Emmet Murphy is an agricultural strategy and market development leader with more than 25 years of experience spanning the United States, Africa and the Caribbean. His work combines agricultural technology commercialization, market development, strategic partnerships and investment. He has led major agricultural initiatives, worked directly with growers and technology companies, and helped organizations develop and secure more than $350 million in funded programs and investments.
